Romain de Tirtoff, (1892 - 1990), famously known as Erte, was a Russian fashion illustrator and a master of Art Deco style. His unique gift for theatrical illustration profoundly influenced 20th Century world-wide fashion which help elevate costume design to a fine art. His work may be found in the collections of many well-known museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
