Hand-coloured print from a fine stipple engraving c1822 by Nicolas Henri Jacob (1782-1871) for Storia Naturale delle Scimie e dei Maki (Natural History of Primates), first published in 1812-1814 with Latin text below the image. This wonderful engraving with Italian text appeared in the second edition of this important 19th century monograph on Apes, Monkeys and Lemours (Lemurs), published in Milan c1822 by P. Hugues.
